Recently, my mother and I have been looking into buying some property near a lake.  We've been steady lake vacationers for sometime now and have decided it's much more efficient to purchase a home on a lake. We haven't really decided what lake is our favorite, so we're pretty open-minded as to what lake we'll create our new lakeside getaway.

We're not looking to build a lakeside mansion or a little cottage.  Something mid-sized that will accommodate a few extra people than just ourselves.  It's always nice to know that we can invite some friends down to the lake for a weekend or two.  We want our place to be on the water with a nice long dock jutting out into the lake.   We're basically looking to buy an already built home, because summer is right around the corner and we don't want to waste another year building a home and have the landscaping done too.

My mother and I have visited many lakes over the years and have become fond of many lakes.  Many of these lakes have really nice homes along the banks, but none seem to compare to the Smith Mountain Lake real estate .   The homes around the area are very nice and the lake is absolutely gorgeous.  I think we will end up purchasing a home at Smith Mountain Lake.
